Rollei RPX400 @200
Rodinal 1:25, 20 deg's, 12 min's
Scan: 2400dpi
PP: simple 'S' curve, scale and border.

Development was at dilution/time for box-speed according to MassiveDevChart...

I think these have a more classic look that this emulsion is known for. Grain is good. This also works for me. Lighting again was bright and contrasty today.

Roll #2 - I will Pull development by one stop, using the maxim of over-exposed/under develop...

Roll #2 just developed.

Rodinal 1:25 20 deg's 9.5 min's. This is a 20% reduction in developing time, roughly equates to around one-stop.

Again this was Rollei RPX400 @ 200.

Results once the film is dry.. πŸ˜‰

So, thoughts..!

Highlights & mid-tones are good, shadows were a bit muddy in the straight scans & I had to increase the tone curve here to 'blacken' them...

Grain is larger than I thought it would be, that could be due to agitation or temp difference in chemicals however.

I still like them, & in a front light situation or shaded side light they work better. The shots directly into the light fared worse...

@matt Well, that 1st photo of the branch/water looks quality. I like it very much. Would IMO make a smashing print! πŸ“·πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

@itdm5j21 - I thought that the balance here was just right. Lighting was dappled & from the left, both the film & camera seemed to like this...!

In open light I had to adjust the blacks on the remainder of this roll, but not for this particular image.

I need to go out and use some of the 120 stock I have & see whether it performs the same (I would expect it to...), but mainly to see if the grain is perhaps less pronounced..?

I think my go to will either be 400@800 or 400@200 (dev as 400)

@matt The 200 rated film - at my end - seems to deliver good tone and enough 'punch'. At 800 rated it is ever so slightly less so but that is only to be expected and is completely acceptable/useable.

At any rate from your original toot in this story, the results are speaking for themselves. You now have a combination that works and you can tinker with the end results, almost infinitely. I am delighted for you. πŸ“·πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

@matt These look very pleasing on my galaxy tab S2. You must be happy/ier now with these results, I imagine.

One could look forward to a days photography, having flexibility and then being able to produce super photos too; that you like the tonal range & contrast of. πŸ“·πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž
